Mahashivratri holds great significance as it marks the beginning of longer days in the northern hemisphere and serves as the commencement of a spiritual journey for some.

This blog is dedicated to recounting the various manifestations of Shiva I encountered during my visit to my ancestral town, along with the lessons I gleaned from their lives.

My Attai and Mama (Paternal Aunt and Uncle)

My Mama (Uncle) is approximately 83 years old, while my attai is in her late 70s. It's truly heartwarming to witness how they continue to support each other even at such an advanced age. They each have their unique ways of expressing love for one another. As they say, the way to a person's heart is through their stomach, and my aunt epitomizes this by preparing my uncle's favorite dishes with meticulous care. For instance, my uncle prefers only small brinjals, so she goes to great lengths to ensure that the ones she selects are small and free from any tough parts attached to the plant.

Lesson - Love and care are best expressed through actions rather than words.

Cab Driver - Farmer by Heart

On our journey back from the temple, we hired a cab to return home, aiming to depart by 7:00 am to reach Madurai. Initially, I struggled to stay awake in the front seat due to exhaustion from staying up the previous night (Shivarathri). However, a remark from the driver about his own drowsiness jolted me awake, prompting me to strike up a conversation with him. It soon became apparent that he was a farmer at heart, passionately discussing his experiences raising cows, tending fields, and cultivating crops. Sadly, farming is no longer a full-time occupation, and despite owning land, he must supplement his income with occasional odd jobs to support his joint family.

Lesson - Value your time and prioritize family, especially in family-owned businesses, to assess true profitability.

Engineer by Profession

Another encounter, this time with a local on the streets of Madurai, revealed a man who had pursued engineering but returned home to support his ailing mother. Despite securing a job in Germany, he chose to utilize his skills by restoring auto-rickshaws. Today, he earns more than a corporate salary, finding fulfillment in providing employment and delighting customers with his restored vehicles.

Lesson - True joy lies in giving and witnessing the happiness of others.

Caring Father

During my journey back to catch the train to Bangalore, I struck up a conversation with an autorickshaw driver who shared his struggles and triumphs. Despite facing challenges in Madurai's competitive environment, he prioritized providing quality education for his daughters. His sacrifices, including selling his autorickshaw to fund their education, have enabled his family to ascend to the middle-class bracket, with one daughter now working in an IT company abroad.

Lesson - Education is the gateway to limitless opportunities.

Conclusion

These individuals represent real-life manifestations of Shiva, whose darshan I was blessed to experience during the Shivaratri trip.

This journey served as a reminder that the essence of divinity lies not only in temples but also in the hearts and actions of ordinary people, embodying the virtues of love, perseverance, and sacrifice.

Jawaharhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16973639504253706932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11232741.post-71076340614512671532021-11-29T19:33:00.002+05:302021-11-29T19:33:15.378+05:30In the time of Machine Learning
This is a changing world

The world is changing with use of technology. Today everyone has access to most advance technology which would have been a dream machine to access. The question comes is with this access to technology are we happy. Well this is a million dollor question, Such access to the technology just complicates the understanding of the complex world.

Is it a human or Machine ?

When we access technology, we are not sure are we in contact with machine or human. my view is does it make a difference, yes it does. The government is trying everything it knows to show it in good light. Are things really under control is a million dollor question.

I had started tracking the outbreak from the Chinese starting end Jan or start of Feb. The SCMP ( south china morning post ) had been reporting and my collegues who went on for chinese new year did not come back on time, due to the on set of the pandemic. The efforts which were taken were few we can't think of in Country like India. It took some 2 months to start the lockdown in India.

We were tracking reports of Countires like Japan, Korea etc to be impacted. Then there were few super spreaders from Singapore who travelled to Europe and UK. Well in few weeks time Italy and france were in the most impacted countries. Few here saying Covid 19 would not survive the heat of India in summer, but all these are put to rest. India is one of the new hotspot countries and Bangalore being the new capital after Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai held the position in india in the first few months.

Has there been done enough to support the recovery. In my view, No. The government espcially in the Karnataka had been caught off guard. They were praising the intitial efforts to do have less covid numbers, and wanted to showcase how technology can be used to trace, but when the numbers started raising they were not prepared for the same. The Lockdown and unlockdown was handled with lot of arrogance and ignorance. These are the stories of the past, there is no point now finger pointing. If I have to rate them for this work I would give them 2 out of 10.

What next, Government is not in favour of another lockdown as they are worried about financial position. In this stage what can be done is going to be a wait and watch. I remember the wording from Vidhan Souda ( Government's work is God's work ) and now Govnment says only God can save Benguluru.

As individuals we need to take responsibility of our actions. Scientific society is also throwing new finding every day about the virus, which is also important to handle it.

It's time for us to accept the virus as part of living. In one of the places, I heard that the Virus is also trying to survive. It's just like us, As we move to land of opportunity, Virus is also doing the same, it's also exploring the new body for it's survival. This virus has been long time with others, but we have been killing its original habitats and now to survive they have found a new body. Our globalization has helped them a lot to survive. If we have to break it's chain either we have to take draconian measures like the Chinese or to accept and live like Americans. We indians are neither here or there, we confused souls, We behave for few days like chinese and few days like Americans , that is impacting us a lot.

Only path now is to plan to imporve the immunity and have belief in god.
Every year the disappointment just increases by a factor. A lot of questions arising on the Leadership of RCB. I am a fan of Kholi, after Sachin and Dhoni. To me, Kholi can lead a team where everyone is brilliant( Like Team India ) where individuals are performing at best of best. When he is part of a mediocre team, then it starts falling apart. He uses the same style of leadership for all situations.

Some time back, I remember reading Situational Leadership ( Ken Blanchard ) where he clearly says that Same leadership style does not work with all. One needs to adopt the style based on the team member maturity on doing the task. A leader needs to keep his eyes on winning and using different styles for different people in Team. In my view, Kohli also needs to use different styles.

In the other match where one can clearly see Dhoni schooling Deepak Chahar, Well the respect for the senior was visible in the eyes of Deepak Chahar. The result was visible, the youngster bowled the next deliveries well.

I am not sure if there is going to be a change in leadership styles or a change in Leader is going to be an inevitable one.
One does not sweat much, it’s like living in the AC room.

This was our younger daughter first trip to chennai. My wife had packed big, I had a Jumbo sized suitcase with me to carry and had another small bag to pull along. This was the heavy travel for me. I was amused by the fact that my youngest one had most of the luggage.

This trip we visited almost every one in the extended family. Can’t believe the love they showered on me and kids. I remembered lot of small things they had done for me in my earlier years. How i would love to visit their homes just for one reason or other. Sometimes i didn’t bother going along or go with cousins.
Jawaharhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16973639504253706932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11232741.post-31016638003186502812019-01-03T10:08:00.001+05:302019-01-03T10:08:23.173+05:30Happy New year
Hello everyone,

Wishting you a very Happy New year !!!
Jawaharhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16973639504253706932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11232741.post-32012658569496065902018-10-31T15:33:00.001+05:302018-10-31T15:33:41.290+05:30Plastic Plastic everywhere
Today while coming to office, exactly at the Hebbal flyover I noticed few cows grazing in the small patch of grass and lot of plastic. It then hit me how much plastic we do generate a waste. From there to office, when observed from the land is polluted with plastic all the way round. If we dig for few meters you would see only plastics. The contamination of the natural resources are so much that even for filling the pot’s we have no good soil left. It’s a sad state of our country.

I just rememberd my childhood times where we just dig a small pit to get the soil for plant/ pots. Now this fertile soil is looking like gold. Even the land fills are just garbage. I would intend to see a bright place for the next generations.
Jawaharhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16973639504253706932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11232741.post-61380739996802655682018-10-30T11:56:00.001+05:302018-10-30T11:56:43.121+05:30Diwali is round the corner
This year is running so fast, I was thinking of pongal and now the diwali is round the corner. This is my first stay in hospital in the span of some 20 years. The smell of hospital really is too bad. Due to some mosquito bite, Dengue hit me and put me in bed for a week and another week away from work. This is the longest time i had been thinking about me as well.

The thoughts which came to be are :

a. what is it going to be in the next 10 years from now

b. what am i doing to improve the lifestyle for me and people dependent on me.

c. What am i really doing, and what should i focus on.

Finally it was a welcome break, and hope it does bring in the energy which gets channelized in the way it should be than just dissapating it everywhere.
Jawaharhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16973639504253706932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11232741.post-90232152981495037052017-06-28T04:57:00.001+05:302017-06-28T04:57:59.390+05:30Zinnov Confluence
It was a two days conference, on the Technology and the lattest in the country. People don’t want to become universal citizens but are getting themselves limited to circles. Even though in the past few countries were looked as Leaders or trendsetters, are now sitting back and saying they care damn about others for them they would like to go back to past.

These above thoughts are coming not just because of the US pulling over Paris aggrement, or Britain now exiting out of the European union. The Urban and globalization was the topic when other countries were investing on the Borders. now when people are getting the impact of globalization now countries are pulling the plug. China and India are the young nations and these nations are needed for others to survive. without opening the economy and borders, in my opinion lot of countries can’t survive. There is a vast growth in technology, and everyone want the comforts which would make our life better.

We have more older people who want to control the young with the sword of democracy. Young guys needs to wake up and get involved in the politics or our Older generation which does not relate itself with change and progress would pull entire country down. That’s my view.
Jawaharhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16973639504253706932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11232741.post-41538406467234635082017-06-05T16:21:00.000+05:302017-06-05T16:21:23.640+05:30The Match which was of no match to India ( India vs Pak Cricket Match ) As a child, I use to enjoy watching the India and Pakistan cricket matches. It uses to ignite the atmosphere in the city. The roads were empty, everyone would be glued to the television sets, There would be drama on the field with a lot of aggression and passion.

Yesterday the scene was different, I found it to be just another normal day. People have lost interest in watching the India vs Pakistan matches. The matches look like one sided. India looks like a solid team vs the Kids from some small towns. That's the sad state of Pak cricket team. This team has not recovered from the blow of their own terror attacks on their soil. I still can't forget the scenes on the TV where Srilankan Crickets were transported in Helicopters.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_attack_on_the_Sri_Lanka_national_cricket_team

Now after 8 years the once a respected team has become now decimated team, The media had hyped the India vs Pak match so much for their revenues, but they are to soon realise if this is the state of Cricket of Pak, they also would not be able to make any money. It better for the PCB to work on their teams to make it competitive. I would love to watch a match between equals, not in the state as on today. Sad state of Pak Cricket Team.... It had been a completely unplanned trip. Chennai was calm and everywhere I could hear the word JalliKattu. Chennai / Tamilians have made the entire country people turn around and look at what is the issue.

I saw loads and loads of people on road, everyone protesting. Group of people in Bikes are going around with Black flags and everyone thrashing the politicians and the MNC's for reasons which I don't buy in for. Whatever be the case I see there is an uprise coming. For the years I have been in Tamil Nadu, Jallikattu had never been seen as the culture, It had been seen as sports in and around Madurai region. Every year I have heard/seen on news of people hurt due to Jallikattu. For me, this was the reason for me to not fully agree how this sport was played. How can one endanger his lives for sports? Celebrating Pongal according to me is Tamil culture.

It's my view that youths are misled on the view that Jallikattu is Tamizhan identity. The impression that central government and State government does not care about Tamil culture and there is an identity crisis for the people here. Social media has done its bit to add more fuel to fire. To some extend government supported this protest to get favorable results from the center. All youth believed is the verses of Hiphop Tamizha who made a music video supporting jallikattu, In the song, he blamed foreign agencies and a conspiracy against the sport.

There are few other burning issues in Tamil Nadu than jallikattu, is my opinion.
There is always a meaning to what they are saying and what are they trying to tell. It's really an art to understand what it means between the lines. As this time of the year is always tricky where one want to blame someone to get into tasks which are not working.
Evening while going home happen to bump into this beautiful lights decorated on the Vidhan Soudha of Karnataka. The lighting is especially an art, it changes the entire the way you look at the object. It can hide few things in darkness which one doesn't need to see.

Light up yourself to change the way the people look at you.Jawaharhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16973639504253706932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11232741.post-27128237835086179952017-01-06T08:21:00.000+05:302017-01-06T08:21:34.100+05:30Thoughts flowSuddenly the life looks lot more positive, There has been more opportunities for which once doesn't get considered. It would be good if a small step is take to reach the goal each day.

Good thing is there is a way to go further to reach the height, and bad thing is there is the time is always limited to reach the goal. If one has slept like the Hare in the Hare and the Tortoise story, then post wake up he has to run as fast as he can to reach it. Well I am now in the state of Hare, so have to run ... run .. run...
