Lockdown - letter to myself
In the onset of pandemic, we are all underlock down. The government is trying everything it knows to show it in good light. Are things really under control is a million dollor question.
I had started tracking the outbreak from the Chinese starting end Jan or start of Feb. The SCMP ( south china morning post ) had been reporting and my collegues who went on for chinese new year did not come back on time, due to the on set of the pandemic. The efforts which were taken were few we can't think of in Country like India. It took some 2 months to start the lockdown in India.
We were tracking reports of Countires like Japan, Korea etc to be impacted. Then there were few super spreaders from Singapore who travelled to Europe and UK. Well in few weeks time Italy and france were in the most impacted countries. Few here saying Covid 19 would not survive the heat of India in summer, but all these are put to rest. India is one of the new hotspot countries and Bangalore being the new capital after Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai held the position in india in the first few months.
Has there been done enough to support the recovery. In my view, No. The government espcially in the Karnataka had been caught off guard. They were praising the intitial efforts to do have less covid numbers, and wanted to showcase how technology can be used to trace, but when the numbers started raising they were not prepared for the same. The Lockdown and unlockdown was handled with lot of arrogance and ignorance. These are the stories of the past, there is no point now finger pointing. If I have to rate them for this work I would give them 2 out of 10.
What next, Government is not in favour of another lockdown as they are worried about financial position. In this stage what can be done is going to be a wait and watch. I remember the wording from Vidhan Souda ( Government's work is God's work ) and now Govnment says only God can save Benguluru.
As individuals we need to take responsibility of our actions. Scientific society is also throwing new finding every day about the virus, which is also important to handle it.
It's time for us to accept the virus as part of living. In one of the places, I heard that the Virus is also trying to survive. It's just like us, As we move to land of opportunity, Virus is also doing the same, it's also exploring the new body for it's survival. This virus has been long time with others, but we have been killing its original habitats and now to survive they have found a new body. Our globalization has helped them a lot to survive. If we have to break it's chain either we have to take draconian measures like the Chinese or to accept and live like Americans. We indians are neither here or there, we confused souls, We behave for few days like chinese and few days like Americans , that is impacting us a lot.
Only path now is to plan to imporve the immunity and have belief in god.
