Kudhremukh Trek ( Jan 26 - 2007 and Jan 27 -2007 )
This is the first unorganised trek i had ever done. Well on friday afternoon i was feeling i need to do something this weekend. So i decided to go on a trek. There were two options in front of me. One was Kemmangundi and other was Kudremukh. I was in little dailema to choose which of these. I asked Prasoon rana if given a choice which one u would pick. He said Kudremukh. I too went with the choice. Tried calling Karthika several times.. but did not get the call connected. So after returning from the training checked the mail and called. Gopi picked and said, he has less seats. I confirmed in evening 5.30 pm for the trip to Kudremukh.
Reached Bus Station at around 9.15 pm. The wanderers had arranged for Tempo traveller for the trip. ( this I confirmed as previous trek travel was in Mahindra Tourister .. very unconfortable one. ). Well after waiting and several rounds of intro, We started at around 11.00 pm.
Night seems to be horrible for other, where as i slept well. As usual i have no worries. It seems the driver was sleeping and all had hell of there time. May be others have not travelled in TNSTC buses. where its a general routine when i travelled from Chennai to tirunelveli.
Next day around 8.00am we reached KALASA. It was the nearest place where one can get food and refresh. We refreshed in Yatri Nivas, Kalasa. And started for Kudremukh base camp 1. It was around 12.00 noon when we started trek. The Itenary said first day trek was 8 kms. Well one can never finish in 1 hour 45 mins. Well even the slowest one did it. ( surprising though ) so there were lot of discussion on the distance.
Well In the trek we ( group of 12 - 13 people ) were called Uncle group. and we always refered the other as A Company.. ( A is first letter, and Most of the names were starting from A ) .. It was really fun. I would definetly like to mention all the friends ( Mahesh, Preetham , Pooja, Shayam, Sourav, Santhanu, Palani, Sami .. etc.. ) whose company made this trek a memorable one. One name i can never forget ( ie SUBBU ) .. well he was the orgarniser.. ( 18 year old student) who did his best, well but is far away from being professional.
Friday we went to the waterfall near by had a bath there .. the water was chill and goo time there.
next day Morning we started trekking at around 5.30 am. It was great. Well we trekked till 11.45 am to reach the peak. It was said that it was just 8 Km well it never looked. To me atleast it was around 12 kms. reaching peak was the enjoyable experince. will update the link of the video once i upload it.
Returned back from peak and reached base camp 2 by 5.45 pm. It took almost 5 hours to return back. Then had lunch at 6.00 pm. then again walked till base camp 1. Reached Kalasa by 8.00 pm. Then again back to bangalore by morning 5.30 pm.
Over all I really enjoyed the whole trek. Meeting new people has become a part of like. I still feel that i am little choosy with people need to change that.
