Planning, Goal Setting and Time Management Training

Today morning was totally a different day at work. I had to attend a Soft skill training for - Planning, Goal Setting and Time Management Training .

I had lot of work and was definetly running behind schedule. So I came at early morning 8.00 am. Little bit of surprise for the ppl around though. ( Its always so nice to surprise people ;-) .. ) . The training was scheduled at 9.30 am. So I started to Central Park by 9.20 am from my seat. On the way Interesting thing happen. I was trying to cross the MG road in the Zebra crossing. I was surprised the total number of secounds given to a pedestrian to cross the road. I could hardly believe it was 8 secounds. I was wondering if a sick or aged people have to cross the road they really have to jump in the road in the middle of traffic risking there lives.

I reached the Central Park by 9.28pm, and to my surprise all were there on time.

I would like to share few interesting stories he told while in the training ->

a. Story of the Elephant.

As I was passing the elephants, I suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg.No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

I saw a trainer near by and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away."Well," he sai d, "when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it's enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free."

I was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn't, they were stuck right where they were. Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it on ce before? Break Free from the thoughts that you cannot achieve some of your dreams.

b. Story of two priest -

There was a Jew and RC . They were friends since childhood. As days passed RC Priest asked the his jew friend to give a speech on Sunday Mass. He had just the 3 lines to say they are -

Love god.
Love thy neighbour.
Rest others are mere interpretation.

C. " Come run with me " - Peter Strudwick

These were truely inspiring.
