This Day Last Month - Aug 17
Early Morning i got up by 7 and then saw that my swelling had come down a little, and i put the creep bandage along my ankle and then decided to ride. My legs in the shoe were too tight. :( still my mind did not want me to go back from the mountains. Morning, 8.00 after having the breakfast started from Srinagar, Tank full then started riding through the valley. Reached Sonamarg by 12.00 noon. Well a beautiful place but full of tourists. It looks it not something special, I think the place becomes more adoring when it challenges you to ur limits. :). I too liked its beauty but as it wasn't challenging you it became less adorable. Next to Sonamarg is the ZOZILA pass.(Not my photos) This is the place where the green mountains start turning into barren mountains. This is the transformation place. This pass is equally challenging. :) from one side of the Mountain you would see the beautiful mountains and the way carved in it. :) Army Convoy was coming, so all the vehicles were stopped. We hurried up through this pass. :) to Reach the other side. Once you cross the Zozila, we decided to have lunch. But last time where i had my lunch was missing. The Army check post, was now a barren land. Things have changed. First change i am seeing in this beautiful valley. I was curious i asked the army person on the post, what had happened. :) well he had no clue as he had been there for a year. and he said only in the summer this road is open and from his arrival there was nothing like this before. :) Changes are quite adequate in the Valley. For having Lunch we had to reach Drass. The worlds second coolest Inhabitant. :) Its 5 Kms from POK. The much Known Kargil war was fought here in Drass.
Between Drass and Kargil Santhanu bikes, Clutch cable got cut, and then we took time to fix it. Then we reached the Kargil for the Night stay. :).. Here we took bath and then decided to roam around the town. This border town is 1 km in length. We had in the Restaurant which had memories attached to Tarak, in his childhood he had food at the same restaurant some 20 years back. He made good food. :) The food which is made simple and fresh, is always good. :)) i had my mutton Thuppa.
Before that in the market we were searching for candles, in a shop we asked -Till what time the Restaurant would be open? He replied- " Its opens till very late." I asked as in what time? He replied - till 9.00 pm. Well thats the time this town sleeps. :)
He had dinner and came back to hotel to rest. :). A very beautiful day where there has been a transformation from the Green to Barren Mountains.
Facts --> Kargil is the second largest town of Ladakh, located at a height of 2704 m above sea level. It is located on the banks of the Suru River. This river has Great flow of water. and This city has petrol Bunk, on the way to Leh. Fill up the Tank to proceed further. :).
