This Day Last Month - Aug 18 2009

Today early morning got up and got ready, went in search of Hotel, Walked across the Town to find a Hotel, This day breakfast was the worst of the trip. :-). The Tea was surprisingly horrible. :P On the Table the Bones of yesterday eaten were still lying. :-( .. I felt sad. But still had food. Then started from Kargil. Just in front of Kargil There is a deviation which goes to the Zhansker Valley. Ringdom Gompa. Well we were moving in the highway to the Leh, Towards Lamayuru. Lamayuru also has the oldest gompa. ( Gompa = monastery ) Just 20 Km before Mulbekh My Bikes side stand skidded, The axis on which the Foot rest and the Stand was attached  Broke from one end. That means it was just moving. The main stand Nut too had gone out. I liked the Tarak Statement at that time - " You are left with two options, One to ride with One foot rest, or Just find a girl here get married and be here for ur life. "  Really speaking One could not find a mechanic till Mulbek.
From this time I was riding with one leg on the crash guard, That means i was not able to use that much of back break. This brought me confidence as well, That one can use gear to large extent to contol the speed of the vehicle, One really needs break if we are riding fast. :) .. Reached Mulbekh, there was no mechanic, There was one puncher wala. :). He told to go to Lamayuru. :) well to tell you this mechanic hunt went on till Leh. :)) TOday evening we reached Lamayuru at evening. :).

To tell you about the place, Its a wonderful town, hardly 100 ppl in the town, This historic town get electricity just 4 hours a day, From 7 pm to 11.pm. After that there is no electricity. All there life is completly independent of Power supply. I was just wondering how happy the pople would become if they get power for 6 - 8 hours. We have made our life so dependent on power and we crib if there is a power cut for 2 hours or 4 hours a day. :-)
Lamayuru

We had dinner in the town, A small reataurant, we were the only people having dinner there. The owner and his son were working, His son was about 10 years and he was not willing to go to school. He works in the Hotel for the living. This family owns car, and their economic conditions were lot good compared to the others, and they were not giving so much importance to the Studies. That was something sad. :) In the Gompa i met few Lama ( Guru or Spritual Teachers ), who were so much educated, ( One had went to France and had done his studies there, Other was a MS for US ). This gurus should have been doing something for the welfare of the People there.

Lamayuru at Night :)

Lamayuru Gompa

This is a place where I saw the cosmic dance, the Sky looks so good at night its light up with the stars in the sky, :) Least populated and polluted.

Lot of time the riders from bangalore always say why Riders from Mumbai or pune stay in Lamayuru, :) well the reason is not because they can ride less. Its just because they want to enjoy the Unreached places and see this beautiful valley where less people live and enjoy their way of life :)
